Foraging & Tincture Making with Medicinal & Edible Plants

Join Herbalist Carolyn Smith at Hungry Turtle Farm to explore the wild and weedy plant friends growing around the farm. Many plants commonly considered weeds are tasty and useful for food and/or medicine. We’ll begin our time together with a plant identification walk to discover what’s growing—not in the fields, but on the periphery—and discuss plants that are safe and tasty to eat as well as those we can use to support our overall health and wellbeing. We will collect species that are useful as medicine, return to the barn, and learn to make an herbal tincture (liquid extract) from the plants we have collected. Each student will leave the class with at least one homemade tincture. Class will run rain or shine, so be prepared for the weather! Class price of $40 covers the cost of materials to make your tincture.
