Homemade Holiday Gifts: Goat Soap Making
December 15 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
, $10 – $20
Learn soap making basics, using goat’s milk, with Erin Link from EB Ranch, LLC. Get a step-by-step demonstration and we’ll send a recipe or two to you along with resources to give you the confidence to make your own soap at home. Erin will also discuss the critically endangered and rare San Clemente Island heritage breed goats that she raises. Bring your questions about soap making and goats as there will be time for discussion.
*We strongly recommend that participants DO NOT make soap during the class. One’s full attention is required in this process, especially when working with lye.
Erin Link is a steward of a herd of the critically endangered and rare San Clemente Island (SCI) goats. There are only about 1,000 of these beautiful multipurpose goats remaining; Erin feels fortunate to have a small herd of 20-50 or so purebred SCI goats on EB Ranch in Ridgeland, WI. She makes luscious goat milk soap. Each bar helps promote these rare goats and may help folks become educated about the livestock conservancy and endangered livestock breeds. We need to keep a diverse genetic pool in our livestock to help promote vitality and hardiness.
