Gathering sap from maple trees and boiling it down into syrup is one of the oldest food production techniques in the North. Maple Camp is a hands-on experience where participants learn the different facets of “sugaring”: the tools, identifying trees, reading the weather, tapping, putting out buckets, gathering, boiling and finishing. This all happens on 16-acres of woods within five miles of Amery. We will do the actual work, so this is for hardy, out-doorsy, warmly-dressed souls who can deal with everything March weather can offer. Highly recommended for parents and children together.
