David Huckfelt (of The Pines) has shared the stage with musical luminaries including Mavis Staples, Emmylou Harris, Greg Brown, Bon Iver, and Arcade Fire. And, he will perform in our beautiful barn on AUG 28.

Read David's piece as he poetically discusses his music and his work to connect his art to social issues facing us today, including access to good food. He writes: "I love music and know it has a tremendous capacity to lift up the world, but to me the people growing the food, the farmer's markets, the pizza farms, the food shelves, the co-ops: these are some of the true heroes." Read the full article and reserve your seat at the barn below:

Why spoil a healthy salad with a store-bought, industrial dressing containing refined sugars, poor quality oils, artificial flavors, or preservatives? It’s so easy and inexpensive to make your own! Check out a great recipe below to make your own nourishing, health-promoting, digestion-improving dressing right at home.

Farm Table has several ingredients to make your own kombucha Italian dressing yourself. Or, we also make our own Green Ranch that’s available for purchase in our market area.

INGREDIENTS:
•1 cup kombucha vinegar
•1½ cups olive oil
•3 garlic cloves, minced fine
•1½ Tbsp. minced onion
•1 Tbsp. honey
•1 Tbsp. dried oregano
•½ tsp. dried basil
•1½ Tbsp. fresh minced parsley
•1 Tbsp. sea salt
•¼ tsp. red pepper flakes

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Combine all ingredients in a quart-sized jar. Cover and shake until everything is well combined.
2. The oil and kombucha vinegar will probably separate after it sits for some time, so give it a shake before pouring.

Thanks to everyone who came to artist Emily Anderson’s opening reception “Looking Up” on Friday. It was an exceptional evening in every way! If you were unable to make it there’s still time to see it—Anderson’s exhibit is up ‘til the end of August.

STAFF PICK: SATURDAY CURDSDAY
Mike Schut, FTF's Director for Programs and Community Partnerships:

“Not that curds need extra promo here in cheese-happy Wisconsin, but…have you tried the Cosmic Wheel Creamery cheese curds fried in Spotted Cow beer batter? They are the best I’ve ever had! I love knowing that the curds are made just five miles from our restaurant with organic milk from 100% grass-fed cows raised on that same farm. If you need your fried cheese curds fix, come on in…any and all Saturdays!”

Hope to see you tonight at @farmtablefoundationamery for my show “Looking Up.” I’m not sure how many more public events I’ll be going to in the near future as I’m watching the pandemic numbers looking worse on the daily. Ugh. When will this be overrrrr?

I chose the name “Looking Up” for a few different reasons, but the main reason is because I started painting more seriously during the early days of the pandemic as a way to be more present; to step away from the screen and to ‘look up’ at the sky and the trees and the beauty in our everyday surroundings. I desperately want to be HERE today, not in the news, not in some future I’ve catastrophised in my mind. This place. With my friends and family. Knowing it can all change tomorrow, I want to LOOK UP and see the now.
