Hope to see you tonight at @farmtablefoundationamery for my show “Looking Up.” I’m not sure how many more public events I’ll be going to in the near future as I’m watching the pandemic numbers looking worse on the daily. Ugh. When will this be overrrrr?

I chose the name “Looking Up” for a few different reasons, but the main reason is because I started painting more seriously during the early days of the pandemic as a way to be more present; to step away from the screen and to ‘look up’ at the sky and the trees and the beauty in our everyday surroundings. I desperately want to be HERE today, not in the news, not in some future I’ve catastrophised in my mind. This place. With my friends and family. Knowing it can all change tomorrow, I want to LOOK UP and see the now.

Rockefeller Foundation released a new report, detailing how “the U.S. food system as it stands is adversely affecting our environment, our health, and our society,” said Rajiv Shah, president of the foundation. The Washington Post wrote: “The total health and climate consequences of the American food system cost three times as much as the food itself.”⁠
 ⁠
The food system externalizes costs such as poor health outcomes, soil loss, water pollution, and carbon emissions.⁠
⁠
The report provides a roadmap to creating a post-pandemic food system with greater fairness, fewer adverse climate impacts, and better health outcomes.⁠
⁠
The farmers that Farm Table supports, and the food we purchase, lifts up a regenerative food system–one that does not externalize costs; one that sees ecosystem and soil health as foundational to community well-being. Thank you for being part of that community.⁠
