Two important updates from Farm Table:
First, Executive Director Laura Phoenix has accepted a position in the Twin Cities. We are very sorry to see her go! Her last day with us will be November 11.
Laura says, "I would first like to say THANK YOU for being part of the community of people that have enriched my time here; thank you as well for supporting this fine organization. I have appreciated the opportunity to work with many of you in support of our mission to build local food culture—and to rekindle connections between people and local food, local farmers, and the land. I will carry many fond memories with me, and gratitude for what we accomplished together."
We wish Laura only the very best in her future endeavors and thank her for all her efforts to advance our mission and lead our team during her time with us. She will truly be missed.
Second, a note about challenges facing Farm Table: restaurants and nonprofits, like ours, suffered during COVID-19. Keller Avenue, which runs in front of Farm Table, has been closed due to construction since last spring. In addition to that, a major donor decided to redirect their financial support. The decrease in funding is significant. There will be operational changes to compensate.

When Farm Table’s board of directors met to address the new budget reality, they appointed Sylvia Burgos Toftness as Interim Executive Director. Sylvia will see the organization through these changes. She’s been a part of this organization since its inception, as a member of the board of directors. Sylvia is eager to work alongside you to continue Farm Table's good work. Please join us in welcoming Sylvia to her new position.
Thank you for being part of the Farm Table community and, as always, for your support.
[The formal announcement about this transition at Farm Table can be read here:]
EB RANCH: Owner and farmer Erin Link is a steward of a herd of the critically endangered and rare San Clemente Island (SCI) goats. There are only about 1,000 of these beautiful multipurpose goats remaining; Erin feels fortunate to have a small herd of 20-50 of these goats on EB Ranch in Ridgeland, WI. She makes luscious goat milk soap. Each bar helps promote these rare goats and educates customers about the livestock conservancy and endangered livestock breeds.
Farm Table purchases goat milk soap crafted from Erin’s herd of SCI goats. Pick up a bar in our market! Erin also teaches soap making for us. Schedule a private class with some friends and learn to make soap yourself!
Read an interview we did with Erin back in July of this year via link in bio. Learn about her joys and challenges in farming. Don’t forget to sign up to receive her newsletters too!

We spoke with David Huckfelt in July. (He will be in concert in our barn on August 28.) David has performed benefit concerts for organizations, like Seed Savers Exchange, whose missions share some similarity to Farm Table’s. We asked him why he feels strongly about supporting organizations working to promote local food and farmers.

For David, such farmers are already “five steps more connected” to the land as well as to their communities than most of us are. He sees farmers as serving all of us, nurturing us on the most fundamental human level.

David told us that he has “several friends who determined years ago that the best way to make a stand and a change for a better world was to start growing food for people. Turnip Rock Farm, Bubbling Springs Farm, Seed Savers Exchange, Sister’s Camelot, Grinnell Heritage Farm, Sean Sherman The Sioux Chef—there are hundreds. I love music and know it has a tremendous capacity to lift up the world, but to me the people growing the food, the farmer’s markets, the pizza farms, the food shelf donations, the co-ops: these are some of the true heroes of the revolution.”

We hope you can join us on AUGUST 28 at Hungry Turtle Farm for David Huckfelt’s Barn Concert. Learn more and get tickets for this special evening here:
